University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship

The University of Calgary, one of Canada’s top universities, offers the International Entrance scholarship to international students, including Nigerians, every year.

The scholarship rewards brilliant minds who hope to begin their bachelor’s program at the university during the Fall.

The total scholarship value is $80,000. However, successful candidates would receive an award of $20,000, which is renewed every year till the student graduates from the university.

This renewal is subject to the continued academic success of the student.

Hence, students are expected to obtain a minimum GPA of 2.60 over 24.00 units.

Eligibility

Only candidates who meet the following requirements would be chosen:

  • Must be international students who have registered full-time in a bachelor’s program, starting in Fall.
  • They are new students.
  • They must have a minimum GPA of 3.20 to be considered for the scholarship.
  • They must submit proof of English language proficiency.

Application Deadline: December 1st and March 1st every year

Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award at University of British Columbia

The Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award is one of the four awards offered by the University of British Columbia.

The award targets international students, including Nigerians who are undergraduates and have shown academic excellence and outstanding leadership skills.

This scholarship is merit-based, and the value depends on your financial needs.

To determine your financial needs, the university considers the total tuition, fees, and living costs and deducts the financial contribution you and your family can make yearly.

The financial information you provide will determine the assistance you get from the university.

The award is renewable till you graduate. However, it would help if you achieved satisfactory grades and continued to show your financial need, and your study permit must also be valid.

Eligibility

Candidates would be selected if they meet the following requirements:

  • They must be international students with a Canadian study permit.
  • They must enter the university after graduating from a reputable secondary school or transferring from a college or university in their first year.
  • They must have graduated from their secondary school at least one year before the date they would be applying to this university.
  • It must be their first undergraduate degree program.
  • They must show high academic excellence.
  • They must be able to prove their financial need and how they may prevent them from studying at the university.
  • They must meet the university’s admission requirements.

Application Deadline: November 15th and January 31st every year

Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program at the University of Toronto

If you wouldn’t mind studying at the largest university in Canada, then you should take advantage of the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program.

The University of Toronto has various facilities and opportunities to help you achieve your dreams without drilling a hole in your pocket.

This scholarship is aimed at international students, including Nigerians who are exceptionally brilliant, creative and famous for their leadership skills in their school.

The university also emphasises students who have positively impacted their school and community.

The scholarship caters for your tuition and incidental fees, among other benefits, for your four years in the school.

Eligibility

Only candidates who meet the following requirements would be chosen:

  • They must be international students with valid Canadian study permits.
  • They must either be in their final year in secondary school or have graduated not earlier than June 2022.
  • They will begin their bachelor’s program at the university in September 2023.

Application Deadline: November 30th and January 16th every year

Winnipeg President’s Scholarships for World Leaders

The University of Winnipeg offers its President’s Scholarship for World Leaders to international students worldwide, including in Nigeria, who are entering the university for the first time for their undergraduate program and other divisions.

Candidates are required to show academic excellence and leadership skills, among other qualities.

The value of the President’s Scholarship for World Leaders is $5000.

Eligibility

Prospective students must meet the following criteria:

  • They must have at least an 80% admission average or its equivalent.
  • They must be international students with valid study permits.
  • They must be entering the first year of their bachelor’s program.
  • They must be able to show outstanding leadership skills.
  • They must fill out and submit a complete admission application on or before the deadline.

Application Deadline: June 1st every year

York University International Student Scholarships

The scholarships offered by York University allow brilliant international students to study at the university.

The scholarship value ranges from $80,000 to $180,000, depending on the type of scholarship.

Note that the scholarship award can be renewed annually, provided that students maintain academic excellence as they progress.

Eligibility

Candidates are required to meet all the requirements below:

  • They must be international students with a Canadian study permit.
  • They must have applied to a bachelor’s program at the university, which would begin in the Fall of the academic year.
  • They must have an excellent academic record with at least an “A” as an average or equivalent.
  • They must have no previous university studies and must have applied to the university at least two years after graduating from secondary school.
  • Their high school must also nominate them.
  • They must provide one letter of recommendation.
  • After uploading the documents, they have been shown “Received” on the application page by the stated deadline.
  • They must complete the application form and submit it by the stated deadline.

Application Deadline: January 15th and February 3rd every year

University of Ottawa President and Chancellor’s Scholarships

The University of Ottawa invites international students enrolling on the university for a full-time undergraduate program to apply for these scholarships.

The value of the President’s Scholarship is $30,000, which is $7,500 per year, while the Chancellor’s Scholarship is $26,000, which is $6,500 per year.

These scholarships can be renewed as long as the student remains an international student, maintains a CGPA of 8.50 and has full enrollment.

However, students who want to renew 50% of the value of the scholarship should have a CGPA of  8.00 and 8.49.

Applicants in second, third and fourth place receive an award of $1,500 from the university.

Eligibility

Applicants would be selected on merit if:

  • They have a Canadian student visa.
  • They have a minimum average of 92% or its equivalent for admission.
  • They show leadership skills and commitment to academic excellence and extracurricular activities.

Application Deadline: April 3rd every year
