  2. Can one use a good IJMB result to enter directly Bsc Nursing in University of Ilorin?

Then for JAMB, what is Unilorin cut off mark to study BSc Nursing?

    • Yes, Lydia, to your first question.

For JAMB, you need a JAMB score above 290 to stand a good chance for admission.

    • Hello Festus,

While neither an RN nor a B.Sc. nurse is inherently superior, their strengths differ. RNs excel in immediate patient care with practical skills, while B.Sc. nurses offer broader knowledge and more career advancement, especially in research or leadership.

The “better” choice depends on your career goals, learning style, and financial situation. Remember, both roles are crucial and deserve respect.

Do you intend to practice in Nigeria?

I guess you mean after getting an RN certificate from a School of Nursing.

If that is correct, then you will have to apply for direct to obtain the BSc Nursing. It is four (4) years.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Unfortunately, your sister JAMB score is low for Nursing Science.

Though, she stands a chance for admission at a Private University.

I advise she applies to a less competitive course.

    • Mag,

It depends on the course you want to apply to study at UI.

Usually, you must have the correct O’level subject combination and the department’s direct entry requirements.

    • Please don’t abandon your program. Please finish it up and then apply for Direct Entry into Nursing in any University. The experience you will have as a Registered Midwife cannot not be compared to those who just started out from Year in the University and are meeting you in Year 2. By Year 4 or 5 in the University depending on when the University write their council exams you can then write your exams and get your RN(Registered Nurse) Certificate and also RPHN(Registered Public Health Nurse) certificate. Thank you

Can you clarify which of the Federal University of Health Science you are referring to?
There’s one located in Azare and one in Otukpo.
The one located at Azare, Bauchi offers B.sc Nursing but not the one at Otukpo.

    • Hello Ayo,

You cannot apply for Nursing via direct entry with a CHEW result.

The step is to apply for Nursing at JAMB or attend a School of Nursing.

    • Hello,

Nurses or Midwives registered with the N&MCN are eligible to apply for direct entry to study Nursing.

What university do you want to study Nursing at?

Let me run a check if they accept Senior Community Health officers for direct entry admission.

  12. For an individual who has an ND from a college of health sciences (JCHEW), what category of license does he or she go for, hence there are number of license.
    Thanks.

    • Hello, Immanuel

For JCHEW, you will get a practising license as a Community Health Worker.

You would not get a Nursing license except if you gain admission via Direct Entry to the University.
