The Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund Yola wishes to inform Adamawa State indigenous students studying in various tertiary institutions across Nigeria that its web portal will be opened for 2023 local scholarship applications from 3 July. 2023 to 7 August 2023.
About Scholarship
Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund is a Parastatal of the Adamawa state government established by Law No. 10 of December 2008.
Modern challenges in educational financing in the wake of the geometric rise in student population and dwindling government finances compelled the Adamawa state government to critically reexamine its role in providing students with Bursaries, special and full scholarships, and student loan schemes at both local and international levels.
Against this background, the state government found it necessary to reposition its scholarship apparatus to face reality. Thus, the emergence of ASSTF, whose functions and powers include:
- Source for funds and scholarships from within and outside Nigeria
- Award scholarships to eligible indigenes of the state.

Scholarship Categories
The ASSTF has 5 types of scholarship schemes, namely:
- Special scholarship
- Full scholarship
- Bursary
- Foreign scholarship
- Students loan
Full Scholarships
The full scholarship scheme is a performance-based scholarship for institutions of higher learning within Nigeria.
Its criteria hinge on cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The cut-off point is 3.00 and above.
This type of scholarship provides the indigenous beneficiary with a particular amount of money that covers his/her tuition fees and learning materials.
It is applicable to approved courses in Nigerian Universities (at the undergraduate level only), Monotechnics and polytechnics.
Foreign Scholarships
The foreign scholarship is for indigenous students whose courses of study are not tenable in Nigerian Universities.
This scholarship is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in selected countries.
Bursary
The Bursary is for indigenous students studying in various institutions of higher learning within Nigeria.
Priority is given to courses that match with manpower needs of the state. Money paid to beneficiaries differs by course of study/discipline.
The bursary covers ND, NCE, HND, Undergraduate and Post Graduate levels.
Special Scholarships
This programme caters for students with special needs, disabilities, and gifted children as listed below:
- The Internally Displaced Students
- The Girl-Child
- The Physically Challenged
- The Gifted Child Special scholarship takes care of tuition/school fees, feeding, accommodation, books, other learning materials and transportation.
This scheme covers from the basic up to the tertiary level of education. It is a local scholarship.
Scholarship Requirements
Only new intake in the following categories is eligible:
- NCE I
- NDI
- HNDI
- 100 level or 200 level (DE only)
Blind spot/erratic network areas are to use the offline mode of application.
