JAMB, Tertiary Institutions Decide Admission Cut-Off Marks June 24 2024

In an eagerly awaited development, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to hold a crucial meeting on June 24 to determine the admission cut-off marks for the upcoming academic year. The conference, to be convened by JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, NPOM, FNAL, will bring together representatives from tertiary institutions across the country, making it a significant step toward streamlining the admission process in Nigeria.

The annual JAMB policy meeting serves as a platform for key stakeholders in the education sector, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, to deliberate on various admission-related matters. The primary objective of this year’s meeting is to establish the cut-off marks for tertiary institutions, addressing the challenges encountered in previous admission cycles.

Discrepancies arising from different institutions setting varying cut-off marks have often confused and hindered transparency in the admission process. With this meeting, JAMB aims to foster consensus among stakeholders, promoting fairness and consistency in admissions.

The participants will engage in extensive discussions, taking into account factors such as the performance of candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), post-UTME screenings, and other relevant criteria. Following the meeting, the agreed-upon cut-off marks will be announced, allowing aspiring candidates to plan their applications accordingly and better understand the requirements.
