How to Pass UNIPORT Post UTME Examination 2024

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Post UTME is Nigerian universities’ most challenging screening examination.

It is because the best of the best students want to study at the Unique UNIPORT.

Every year, over forty thousand (40,000) students apply to study at the various departments at the University of Port Harcourt.

Admission to the university is competitive because of the large number of JAMB and Direct Entry (DE) applicants that apply to UNIPORT.

The University of Port Harcourt is the first school I chose in my JAMB form many years ago.

Studying at one of Nigeria’s most prestigious Federal Universities is a big dream.

But unfortunately, many students fail to pass the UNIPORT Post UTME exams, making them ineligible for admission.

At this point, I want to assure you that it is possible to pass the UNIPORT Post UTME test with flying colors.

The thing I love the most about the University of Port Harcourt is transparency in the admission processes.

This post aims to walk you through practical strategies to prepare and pass the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Post UTME examination with a high score.

Let me know in the comment if you have any questions or need further clarification.

Also, if you are unsure of your admission chances, tell me your JAMB score and the course you are applying to study at UNIPORT to get the best advice.

UNIPORT Post UTME Subject Combination

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Post UTME subject combination is JAMB subjects, logical reasoning, and Mathematics.

For example, an aspirant for Medicine and Surgery will write Use of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the UNIPORT screening exam. It is also possible to see Logical Reasoning and Mathematics in the exam.

The same is the case for other courses at the University of Port Harcourt, where you get to answer questions in your Post UTME exam similar to your JAMB subject combination.

Some years, UNIPORT sets questions only from students’ subject combinations, while in other years, questions are also asked on logical reasoning and Mathematics.

UNIPORT Post UTME Format

online registration

The UNIPORT Post UTME exam format is a Computer Based Test (CBT) comprising fifty (50) questions for thirty (30) minutes.

One unique thing about the UNIPORT Post UTME exam is that you would see your test score immediately after you click on submit your answers.

Unlike other Universities in Nigeria, you would have to wait for a few days to know your fate for admission.

But at UNIPORT, you know your aggregate score after the exam.

Getting a high score in the Post UTME exam is necessary for you not to faint after seeing your result.

That was a joke. Now, let’s go into the main purpose of this post.

How to Pass UNIPORT Post UTME Exam

The following are the effective strategies to prepare and pass the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Post UTME examination with a high score;

  1. Develop a Positive Mindset
  2. Determine Your Chances for Admission

Develop a Positive Mindset

Developing a positive mindset is the first step to passing the UNIPORT Post UTME examination.

The thing is that many students come to write the screening test with a fear of failure. They lack the confidence to succeed in the examination.

For one reason, these students believe they cannot pass the UNIPORT screening exam or gain admission to the University of Port Harcourt.

Without a positive mindset for success, you cannot prepare for your Post UTME examination to get a high score in the CBT exam.

You must think of yourself as a UNIPORT material. Never have the ideal you are a failure or not worthy of success.

Do you know why most students applying to study Medicine and Law perform excellently in the Post UTME exam?

These students have the mindset for success because they are applying for a competitive course.

I want you to, at this moment, reassure yourself and believe you can gain admission to the University of Port Harcourt.

Let me know in the comment box at the end of this post if there is any reason why you think you cannot make it to UNIPORT. I will give you the best advice.

Determine Your Chances for Admission

Knowing your chances for admission before the Post UTME exam is necessary.

Many students applying to study at UNIPORT make the mistake of applying to study courses they have little or no chances of admission.

Some factors can hinder your chances for admission even if you get a perfect score in the UNIPORT Post UTME exams.

The two (2) determining factor in getting admission at UNIPORT is;

  • O’level Subject Combination
  • JAMB Score

O’level Subject Combination

Five (5) credits in relevant subjects in your WAEC or NECO results are the basic requirement for admission to study at UNIPORT.

For example, a student that wants to study Microbiology at UNIPORT must have credit passes in the following O’level subject combination;

Let me know in the comment if you are unsure about your O’level (WAEC or NECO ) result for the course you want to study at UNIPORT.

JAMB Score

JAMB score determines whether or not you would get admission to study at the University of Port Harcourt.

In UNIPORT, your JAMB score accounts for 50% of your aggregate score.

It means that if you have a high JAMB score, you have a good chance of gaining admission to the school.

Applying for any competitive courses at UNIPORT would require a high JAMB score.

Tell me your JAMB score and the course you are applying to study at UNIPORT to know your chances of admission.

Study the JAMB Syllabus

A student with a laptop

The University of Port Harcourt uses the JAMB syllabus for the Post UTME examination.

All Universities in Nigeria use a syllabus for setting their exam questions in their screening exam.

The UNIPORT Post UTME syllabus lists topics you must study for the screening examination. It is a guide to knowing what to study for the exam.

You must read all the topics before the Post UTME exam to get a good score.

Over the years, students who perform excellently have always covered the syllabus.

Study JAMB Past Questions

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) uses the JAMB past questions for the Post UTME examination.

Contrary to what many students believe, UNIPORT does not set their Post UTME questions.

Rather, the school uses JAMB past questions for their question bank for the screening exam.

As a student preparing for the UNIPORT Post UTME, you must study JAMB past questions from 2000 till date; then, you can study for other lesser years.

I recommend you get a hard copy of the JAMB past questions and answers. You can also practice questions online on Myschool.

Get the UNIPORT Past Questions

online cbt test practice

I know you are wondering why I am recommending the UNIPORT Post UTME past questions after I just revealed UNIPORT screening exam is from the JAMB past questions.

Well, you can get the UNIPORT past questions for your exam preparations. But I bet the questions you would see in it are JAMB past questions.

It would help if you got the UNIPORT past questions to study logical reasons and Mathematics questions in case the Post UTME format is slightly different this year.

You have nothing to lose studying the UNIPORT Post UTME past questions.

I recommend you buy the hard copy of the UNIPORT past questions booklet.

Do not pay anyone online on Facebook or WhatsApp for the PDF of the UNIPORT past questions. It should be free of charge.

    • Emeka,

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) calculates its aggregate score by giving equal weight to the JAMB score and the Post UTME score. Both scores are placed on a scale of 0-400 and then added together to come up with the final score. This means the JAMB score will be added to 4 times your post UTME score and the total will be divided by 2.

Here is the formula for calculating your UNIPORT aggregate score:

      Aggregate Score = (JAMB Score + 4 * Post UTME Score) / 2
For example, if your JAMB score is 280 and your Post UTME score is 320, then your aggregate score will be:

      Aggregate Score = (280 + 4 * 320) / 2 = 350
