How to Prepare and Pass DELSU Post UTME Exam 2024

Adequate preparation and passing the Delta State University (DELSU) Post UTME exams with a high score is the requirement to gain admission to the school.

Over thirty thousand students sit for the DELSU Post UTME exams every year.

But only a tiny percentage of these admission seekers get admission to study their dream courses.

Among the applicants applying to DELSU are students with a high or low JAMB score.

Only with complementary success at the screening exam would you get a high aggregate score above the departmental cut-off mark for the course you want to study at DELSU.

I will like to share my personal experience with you on the DELSU Post UTME exams before I get into the main content of this article.

I sat for the DELSU Post UTME exams in 2012 at the Abraka Campus. That was many, many years ago.

Sadly, I was not admitted to the course I wanted to study: Medicine and Surgery.

As I write this post, I reflect on my mistakes in preparing for the screening exam.

There are certain things I wish I had done differently to ensure my successful performance at the DELSU Post UTME exams.

In this post, I will share with you from my experience practical tips and study strategies to pass your DELSU Post UTME exams with a high score to get above the cut-off mark.

Also, I have written another post on how to pass the Post UTME screening exams here. You will find the article helpful.

Let me know in the comment if you have any questions or need further clarification. I would love to hear from you.

I wish you success with your Post UTME exams. It is my prayer that you get admission this year.

DELSU Post UTME

DELSU Post UTME screening is an aptitude test for students applying to study at Delta State University.

The DElSU Post UTME accounts for 50% of your total aggregate score, while the JAMB score accounts for 50%.

A high aptitude test score would increase your chances of getting above the DELSU cut-off mark for your preferred department.

For example, if the cut-off mark for Political Science is 50 and you got 54 as your aggregate score, you are sure of gaining admission to DELSU.

Calculate DELSU Aggregate Score

Since the beginning of the post, I have mentioned the cut-off mark and aggregate score.

I will tell you the meaning of these two (2) words and how to calculate them.

To calculate your DELSU aggregate score, divide your Post UTME score by two (2) and your JAMB score by eight (8).

For example, Blessing scored 245 in JAMB and 61 in her DELSU Post UTME exam.

  • JAMB Aggregate = 245/8 = 30.6
  • Post-UTME Aggregate = 61/2 = 30.5
  • DELSU Aggregate Score = 61.1

The above calculations show that Blessing’s aggregate score is 61.1.

DELSU Cut Off Mark

There are two (2) types of cut-off marks at Delta State University (DELSU);

  • JAMB Cut Off Mark
  • DELSU Departmental Cut Off Mark

JAMB Cut Off Mark

The JAMB cut-off mark is the general score prospective students must get in the JAMB examination to qualify for the DELSU Post UTME exams.

The general JAMB cut-off mark is made public before the DELSU Post UTME screening examination.

For example, the DELSU JAMB cut-off mark could be 150.

Scoring above the JAMB cut-off mark does not mean you will gain admission to the university. It means you are qualified to sit for the Post UTME aptitude tests.

DELSU Departmental Cut Off Mark

The DELSU departmental cut-off mark is the score that determines an applicant’s eligibility for admission to the university.

DELSU set the departmental cut-off mark based on applicants’ JAMB and aptitude test performance.

Scoring above the departmental cut mark for the course you want to study assures you will get admission.

Let me know in the comment box at the end of this post if you are confused about the DELSU cut-off mark.

How to Pass DELSU Post UTME Exam

Here are practical tips to prepare and pass the Delta State University (DELSU) Post UTME examination;

  1. Know the DELSU Post UTME Format
  2. Choose the Right Course
  3. Practice DELSU Past Questions
  4. Study for the Examination
  5. Register for the Post UTME
  6. Stay Updated on DELSU News
  7. Arrive Early at Abraka

Know the DELSU Post UTME Format

Knowing the DELSU Post UTME examination format is the first step to passing the aptitude test.

It would be a big mistake to sit for the screening exam without knowing the format of the examination.

Every year, some students come for the Post UTME exam expecting to see questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Every university in Nigeria has its format for conducting the Post UTME exam.

For example, the University of Nigeria Post UTME exam format is identical to the JAMB subject combination.

The DELSU Post UTME format is an aptitude test with a hundred (100) questions on logical reasoning, English language, mathematics, and aptitude.

The exam format is the same for all Delta State University, Abraka departments.

Let me know in the comment if you have questions about the DELSU Post UTME format.

Choose the Right Course

Choosing the right course is the number one (1) requirement for admission at DELSU.

Many students apply to study competitive courses without considering their JAMB score.

Your JAMB score is the primary factor in applying for a course at DELSU.

For example, Onome applied to study Nursing at DELSU but got 199 in his JAMB examination result.

Onome must do a JAMB Change of Course to a less competitive department in DELSU, like Aquaculture, for example, to stand a chance for admission.

Failure to make these changes would result in Onome not getting admission.

Getting the correct JAMB score for the course you want to study at Delta State University would be best.

The video below will give you a better insight into how you choose the right course according to your JAMB score.

Practice DELSU Past Questions

Practising the DELSU Post UTME Post Questions is the secret to passing the aptitude test.

You could not score high in the screening exam without practising the past questions, except if you are a genius.

The DELSU Post UTME past question is a guide to knowing the exam format and your level of preparation.

Ensure you prepare for your examination using the past questions.

I know the question on your mind is, how do I get the DELSU past questions and answers?

You can get past questions at the university or order them online.

Wherever you stay in Nigeria, ensure you get the DELSU past questions booklet.

I recommend you study using the hard copy booklet.

Study for the Examination

Studying for your exam is an effective strategy to pass your Post UTME examination.

As you know, the Post UTME examination is a life-changing test for every Nigerian student.

Your performance in this test would, to a great extent, determine your future career. It is why you must put in your best arrangement.

Unfortunately, some students relax after the JAMB examination with the assurance they will get admission with their JAMB score.

But your Post UTME score is as essential as your JAMB performance to determine your aggregate score for admission.

For this reason, ensure your study hard and smartly to pass your DELSU aptitude test with high scores.

Register for the Post UTME

A man and a woman looking at a computer screen

Registration for the DELSU Post UTME is necessary for every applicant applying to study at Delta State University, Abraka.

The requirement for the DELSU registration is choosing the school as your first choice institution during your JAMB registration.

DELSU does not accept a student who filled the school as their second choice of institution.

You might experience challenges registering for the Post UTME if you recently switched to DELSU as your preferred institution.

In such a situation, you must wait for JAMB to update your details on the JAMB portal.

Check the DELSU Post UTME registration process here.

The DELSU Post UTME aptitude test is a computer-based test (CBT).

Arriving late at the venue of the Post UTME exam can lead to panic, negatively affecting your examination performance.

Students from Delta State must arrive in Abraka a day before their exam.

It will help you organize yourself and eliminate the chances of missing your exam.

Kill the Fear of Failure
